Abstract
Large berries and compact clusters developed when Black Corinth grape vines were sprayed with 4_chlorophenoxyacetic acid in the range 10 to 50 ppm. Dipping of clusters gave similar results. When vines were sprayed with acid at 50 ppm. on various dates, it was found that June 3 was apparently the earliest time to spray in 1951 to obtain compact clusters with almost no hard seeds. Dipping of clusters gave about the same results. Dip applns. of acid at 50 ppm. to clusters resulted in berries as large as those produced after both girdling and appln. of acid. Only the parts of clusters treated with acid usually developed large berries and thickened pedicels.
