Abstract
In a six month period 2,379 new patients were treated in a designated major accident centre. Of these cases two thirds (67.9 per cent) were thought to be appropriate for management by general practitioners. I suggest that these cases are properly treated in an accident and emergency department and that these departments should be developed as part of the primary health care teams. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
