An Intradiploic Meningioma of the Orbital Roof: Case Report

Abstract
The case of a young man with a 4 yr history of increasingly severe exophthalmos and no other symptoms is reported. Radiological investigations showed a space-occupying lesion at the level of the roof and media wall of the right orbit with involvement of the lesser wing of the sphenoid. A tumor within the diploe of the orbital roof without intracranial or intraocular involvement was removed and, on histological examination, proved to be a meningioma. Possible staring points are discussed in the light of the literature consulted, but in view of the clinical, X-ray and operating data, the tumor is an intraosseous ectopic meningioma.
