Abstract
The study follows up a group of former mental patients (n = 302), most of them schizophrenic, through the Swedish Police Register and the Cause of Death Register at Statistics Sweden, for a period of 14 years. Almost half of those who were in the age group 20–40 years at the start of the period had either committed suicide or were listed in the Police Register. The crimes committed were relatively minor and may largely be regarded as social drop-out criminality. Keywords
