Abstract
The embryonic development of the sternum is discussed in an effort to explain the pathogenesis of cleft sternum (fissura sterni congenita). The treatment of one patient with such an anomaly is described. The operative indication, operative technique, and timing of the correction are discussed in some detail. Keywords
