Abstract
A procedure is developed by which M1 decay rates for a system with intermediate coupling can be computed from the corresponding rates in pure LS coupling and simple factors obtained from measured energy separations. Applications are made to the nsnp configurations in the Be, Mg and Zn isoelectronic sequences which are compared with ab initio MCDF calculations. Keywords
