Abstract
Summary. The manual to the Infant Rating Scale (Lindsay, 1981) discusses the reliability of the scale only in terms of test‐retest data. The authors argue that information on inter‐rater reliability is at least as important to the test user as the test‐retest data and they provide an indication of the scale's reliability based on ratings given independently by two teachers on 88 infant pupils. The reported level of inter‐rater reliability is considered to be most satisfactory. Keywords
