Abstract
A recent case of hyperinsulinism with relief by excision of pancreatic adenoma is reported in detail. From the records of that case and 5 others, the cerebral symptoms have been analyzed. There was one case with added spinal cord effects, namely hypoglycemic amyotrophy. The differential diagnosis is mainly concerned with functional hypoglycemia and factitious hyperinsulinism. Methods of investigating these cases with low carbohydrate diet, starvation, and exercise are considered. A classification of the neurological symptoms of hyperinsulinism is suggested, dealing with the episodic, continuous, diffuse and focal effects. Keywords
