Abstract
In a large class of gauges, including the Coulomb gauge, in non-Abelian gauge theories, an operator-ordering ambiguity exists in the canonically quantized Hamiltonian. In this paper, a method is described for resolving this ambiguity. It gives rise to an extra potential-like term of order .
