PHYSIOLOGICAL VARIATIONS IN THE GLUCOSE RATIO OF BLOOD AND CEREBROSPINAL FLUID

Abstract
In 100 non-diabetic adults and 54 non-diabetic and non-meningitic children the glucose content of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) generally approximated that of the blood more nearly than is generally believed, and in some cases exceeded the latter. Expts. on normal dogs showed that the glucose content of the CSF tended to follow that of the blood, with a lag in reaching equilibrium, which accounts for the occasional greater glucose content in CSF than in blood.
