Abstract
A Doppler ultrasound probe designed to be introduced into the upper gastrointestinal tract through the biopsy channel of a conventional fibreoptic endoscope has proved effective in localizing arteries in the oesophageal, gastric and duodenal walls and in the base of acute and chronic ulcers. Such localization has been used as an aid to the arrest of bleeding by laser photocoagulation
