Abstract
Case histories on 6 new patients from whom Histoplasma capsulatum was recovered are added to the group of 10 previously reported by Bunnell in collaboration with the present author. Three of the patients were dead and 3 alive at the time of the report. Detailed histories, clinical observations, laboratory studies and specimen X-ray films are included. Similar information is provided in the follow-up of 6 other patients from the original group of 10. Isolation of H. capsulatum frequently requires painstaking examination of body fluids and biopsy material. However, the presence of the organism does not rule out other etiological factors as primary or concomitant causes of disease.
