Abstract
Two-week barley plants, and 5-week Upland cotton plants grown in gallon cans were sprayed to runoff with 0.2% aqueous maleic hydrazide. The immediate effect on the barley was to stop growth within a few days after treatment, and within 6 weeks all plants were dead. Addition of 0.024% Vatsol as a spreader to the maleic hydrazide caused more rapid killing of the barley. The cotton plants were unaffected even 12 wks. after spraying, with or without spreader. However, young seedling cotton plants in the cotyledon stage were seriously inhibited by the spray. Grasses other than barley were killed if plants were young. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
