Abstract
The differences between paranoid schizophrenics and normals on reported perceptions of normal adult faces was studied to determine the usefulness of such pictures as a diagnostic device and as a method of studying personality. Judges evaluated verbal responses with respect to favorableness of feelings expressed and internal inconsistency. The concept of highly variable needs and feelings leading to highly variable perceptions and behavior was suggested as a more useful concept than ambivalence, particularly in studying paranoid schizophrenic personalities. 25 refs. Keywords
