Abstract
All brachiopod species described from the Lower Palaeozoic of Great Britain and Ireland are listed in an appropriate modern genus, together with their selected synonymy, type specimens and original locality. The 'Silurian' (now Cambrian to Silurian) part of Davidson's Monograph (1866–1871) and Supplements (1882–1883) are also reviewed, and fresh plate descriptions presented, which include data on specimens and localities revised with the help of Davidson's unpublished notebooks. Three new names: Dalmanella testudinaria ripae, Leptaena depressa kathekta and Sowerbyella multipartita are proposed.
