The iris naevus (Cogan-Reese) syndrome: light and electron microscopic observations.

Abstract
An eye enucleated from a 38 yr old woman with iris nevus (Cogan-Reese) syndrome was investigated by light microscopy and EM. The clinical manifestations of this disease, i.e., iridic stromal matting, iridic nodule formation and unilateral angle-closure glaucoma, appeared secondary to an endothelial membrane on the anterior surface of the iris. The iris nevus syndrome apparently represents 1 end of the clinical spectrum of an iridocorneal endothelial syndrome which includes Chandler''s syndrome and essential iris atrophy.
