Abstract
An optimization strategy for the improvement of membrane structure stress distribution by way of planar cutting pattern variation is presented. In order to handle the large computational demand of the method, the system has been implemented on a distributed memory transputer array, using an event parallelization scheme. The method is applied to a test problem to demonstrate its essential features. Keywords
