The Electroencephalogram in Subdural Hematoma

Abstract
Diagnostic aids are especially useful in subdural hematoma because of the inconstant signs and symptoms. When a subdural hematoma is not complicated by brain damage, the eeg. is characterized by a generalized asymmetry between hemispheres, with the hemisphere underlying the hematoma showing decreased amplitude and random low voltage slow waves. Variations in the eeg''s. from the above general pattern are due to concomitant intracranial hemorrhage and/or brain damage. The eeg. is a diagnostic aid and is to be used only as an adjunct to the clinical findings.
