Abstract
A computer model solves the coupled, nonlinear equations describing a high pressure mercury discharge with metal halide additives. Inputs to the model include the two-dimensional, axisymmetric geometry, the discharge fluid chemistry at the cold spot, and the total input power to the discharge. The output includes a complete two-dimensional description of the temperature, velocity, chemistry, radiation, and electric fields. Example calculations provide an overview of a typical 400W discharge
