Abstract
We report on quaiscontinuous laser oscillation of lithium neodymium tetraphosphate of 2−mm length pumped transversely with a chopped argon laser. The room−temperature threshold was 95 mW and the slope efficiency was 3.7%. The threshold of transverse pumping was 2.5 times that of longitudinal pumping; therefore, the relative pumping efficiency was 40%.Keywords
