Edge-ringing and Fresnel Diffraction

Abstract
Using the diffraction theory of aberrations, it is shown that edgeringing and Fresnel diffraction may be described as different regimes of the same physical process. Quantitative results are given, and some implications are briefly discussed.Keywords
