Abstract
The effect of sterile-male releases combined with winter cultural practices on a population of pink bollworms, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), was studied in a large field cage through 2 cotton-growing seasons. In 1964, the treated population was reduced 80–90% compared with an untreated check by an estimated seasonal release ratio of 7:1 sterile males to normal males. However, the treated population continued to increase somewhat. In 1965, daily releases of sterilized males reduced the population 98%, despite some entry of moths from the adjacent check cage. No larvae were found during 4 consecutive weeks before this entry. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
