Abstract
A. coelicolor was cultured in a medium containing ammonium acetate as the sole source of C and N. An acetone-soluble pigment was isolated in partially purified state from the metabolic solution by acidification to precipitate the pigment, extraction of the dried sediment with glacial acetic acid, dilution with water to precipitate again and trituration of the dried precipitate with acetone. The pigment is believed not to be an anthocyanidin nor a phenazine, nor related to azolitmin. Keywords
