Abstract
A single intraperit. injn. of 0.06 mg. of diethylstilbestrol was given to groups of male and female hamsters (Cricetus auratus), and the animals sacrificed at set time intervals; 0, 1/3, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, and 96 hrs. Chemical analyses of adrenal glands for their ascorbic acid content showed changes suggesting a release of ACTH in the female hamster, but only a moderate response in the male. Various histochemical and histological tests failed to show any alteration in adrenal lipid constituents.
