Abstract
Four patients with pityriasis rubra pilaris were treated with the oral form of folic acid antagonists (aminopterin and methotrexate) for an average duration of 12 months. Marked clinical improvement was noted in all four patients. Two patients have discontinued therapy for periods of 24 and 7 months and have not had a recurrence of their disease. The pharmacology of folic acid antagonists and the rationale for their use in the treatment of pityriasis rubra pilaris are briefly discussed. Keywords
