Abstract
Studies involving heat and mass transfer in soils freezing under field conditions often require measurement of both total soil moisture content and bulk density. Direct measurement of soil moisture and density presents problems in that most sampling tools that take intact cores are not designed for use in frozen systems. Both power-driven coring equipment and neutron backscattering devices are relatively expensive and heavy to handle in snow-covered fields. In order to overcome these problems, a simple and reliable sampler for direct measurement was designed and built. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
