Abstract
The effect of substituting an antioxidant [N,N′-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine (DPPD)] for vitamin E was tested in hemoglobin regeneration studies on milk-fed anemic rats. The average levels of hemoglobin regenerated and the average hematocrits were higher in the group of rats supplemented with iron plus ascorbic acid and the antioxidant than in groups receiving iron alone or iron plus either ascorbic acid or DPPD.Keywords
