Abstract
The volcanic features of the Mangere-Ihumatao district, near the city of Auckland, are described and their relative ages and eruptive histories discussed. In all cases eruptions in the area occurred during the period of the Flandrian transgression, before sea-level had attained its present height and at Mangataketake have been dated by radiocarbon as occurring 29,000 ± 1,500 years ago. The location of craters associated with individual centres shows marked distribution along lines trending north of north-north-east.Keywords
