Abstract

We have observed the elastic neutral-current reaction

ν_{μ} + p \to ν_{μ} + p

and compared it to the quasielastic reaction

ν_{μ} + n \to μ^{-} + p

. We have measured the ratio of the two reactions to be 0.23 ± 0.09.
