Zur Problematik der Thorotrastschäden*

Abstract
Anhand von 8 eigenen Fällen wird zur Problematik von Thorotrastschäden Stellung genommen. Oberflächenmessungen mit Hilfe von Szintillationszählern ermöglichen Aussagen über die Lokalisation des gespeicherten Kontrastmittels. An histologischen Befunden zweier operierter Patienten wird die Morphologie der Veränderungen erläutert. In geeigneten Fällen empfiehlt sich als Therapie die chirurgische Entfernung exstirpierbarer Depots. In der II. Mitteilung soll anhand von Organ- und Ausscheidungsmessungen auf das Verhalten von Folgeprodukten des Thorium im Organismus und die durch Thorotrastablagerung hervorgerufene Strahlenbelastung näher eingegangen werden. The problem of thorotrast injuries is discussed on hand of eight cases. Surface activity measurements which were carried out with scintillation counters make it possible to localize the storage of the contrast medium. The morphology of changes is demonstrated on hand of histological findings on two operated patients. In suitable cases the indicated therapy is the surgical removal of the deposit. A second communication will deal with the behaviour of the decay products of the thorium in the organism and with the evaluation of the radiation burden based on measurements on organs and their secretion. 8 cas observés par les auteurs leur permettent de prendre position dans les problèmes posés par les lésions résultant de l'utilisation du thorotraste. Des mesures de surface effectuées avec le compteur à scintillations permettent de situer la localisation du dépôt de la substance de contraste. Les lésions histologiques présentées chez deux cas opérés expliquent la morphologie des altérations. Dans les cas favorables le traitement recommandé est l'ablation chirurgicale des dépôts extirpables. Dans la 2e communication les auteurs étudieront de facon détaillée par des mesures d'organes et d'élimination le comportement des substances issues du thorium dans l'organisme et l'exposition aux rayons déterminée par le dépôt de thorotraste.
