Abstract
When a piece of metal tubing is filled with fluid under pressure, it has been found that the tube may buckle elastically by lateral deflection, before it either yields or bursts. Analysis and experiment show that the behavior is much like the buckling of an ordinary column subjected to axial compressionKeywords
