Low-Temperature Magnetic Properties of Large Coordination Compounds CeZn11and UZn12

Abstract
We investigated two intermetallic compounds, CeZn 11 and UZn 12 , for heavy-electron behavior and found that the coefficient of low-temperature specific heat is about 850∼900 mJ/(mol K 2 ) for UZn 12 . The compound CeZn 11 , which has a relatively small γ value of 43.2 mJ/(mol K 2 ), exhibited an antiferromagnetic long-range order at 2.0 K evidenced by a large peak of the specific heat and a broad maximum in the susceptibility, while UZn 12 exhibited neither superconducting nor magnetic phase transition down to 0.4 K.
