Effects of Daunomycin and Anthramycin on Electrocardiogram and Mitochondrial Metabolism of the Rat Heart2

Abstract
Repeated intraperitoneal injections of daunomycin and anthramycin into rats caused changes of the electrocardiogram which were related to dose and duration of treatment. Both drugs affected mitochondrial metabolism in vitro, but only at high concentrations not reached in vivo. Impaired mitochondrial function was probably not the primary mechanism of the cardiotoxic effects of the 2 anticancer drugs.
