Interaction of threading and misfit dislocations in a strained epitaxial layer

Abstract
The motion of a dislocation in a strained layer is calculated using continuum elastic theory. Blocking of the moving dislocation by a fixed misfit dislocation across its path is found to be weaker than previously believed. The calculation makes no approximation regarding the shape of the dislocation, and correctly includes the self‐interaction of the moving dislocation.
