Abstract
A simple method to obtain polar information from a microwave interferometer is described. The two paths in the microwave interferometer are made unequal in length so that the output is frequency dependent. Square-wave modulation of the repeller voltage of the klystron is used to obtain two signals with slightly different frequencies. An appropriate choice of the frequency difference can yield a ½π phase difference, so that a polar interferometer results.
