Abstract
Three types of positive column have been obtained in low-pressure discharges through a mixture of an inert and an electronegative gas. For small currents striations form which are bowed axially in the opposite sense to that usually found. With increase in current these develop axial protruberances which blend to give either a stationary or a mobile constricted column. The effects described so far are time averages. Keywords
