Abstract
The authors have performed a self-consistent numerical calculation to obtain the complete phonon spectrum of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger Hamiltonian (1979, 1980, 1983), and found a rich structure containing solitary modes, solitary-modulated modes, staggered modes, staggered-modulated modes, surface modes, surface-modulated modes, and ordinary extended modes. The spectrum shows a soft-mode phenomenon around k=0.Keywords
