Abstract
The paper suggests that just as skin colour plays a significant part in the structuring of society, it also plays a significant role in the structuring of the psyche. The argument is built on the hypothesis that the internal object world is colour-coded. The paper looks at how this might come about and explores its consequences. Therapists need to have worked through this area in their training and therapy, otherwise it will reappear as the therapist's transference to confound the therapy. Keywords
