Abstract

Helicobasidin has been shown to incorporate four tritium atoms from [2,2-³H₂]mevalonate, two from 4R-[4-³H]-mevalonate, and two from [5,5-³H₂]mevalonate. Feeding with [2-³H,2-¹⁴C]geranyl pyrophosphate has shown that the 4R-mevalonoid tritium atom from the second prenyl unit is retained in the biosynthesis.
