Resonance interpretation of the decay ofψ′(3.7)intoψ(3.1)

It is pointed out that the theoretical difficulty implied by the large coupling constant required for a local interaction of ${\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}$ with $\psi \mathrm{}\left(3.1\right)\mathrm{}$ and ${\psi }^{\prime }\mathrm{}\left(3.7\right)\mathrm{}$ is eliminated in an $\epsilon$ model of the decay. To assist in an experimental decision between the two alternatives, the pion spectra for the two models are presented, with several choices of the $\epsilon$ parameters. Related remarks are made about the decay ${\rho }^{\prime }\mathrm{}\left(1600\right)\mathrm{}\to \rho \mathrm{}\left(770\right)+{\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{-}$.
