Abstract
The effects of aging cylindrical magnetic film elements are described. The films are 1 μ thick, circumferentially anisotropic, and electrodeposited upon a 125-μ (0.005-in.) -diam wire substrate. The values of skew and dispersion undergo considerable changes even when the films are stored at room temperature. The results of aging at 55°C under a variety of applied magnetic fields are described. Measurements are given for skew, dispersion, anisotropy, and coercive fields. Under worst case conditions, all parameters experience changes several times their initial values. The changes tend toward terminal values, and the degradation of the important magnetic parameters is clearly influenced by the transverse fields during the aging process. Experimental data showing a possible stabilization of the film by field annealing in an easy direction field following electrodeposition are discussed. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
