Abstract
The cultures of lymphocytes from 5 healthly individuals and 5 individuals with trisomy of chromosome 21 are treated with 300 R from a C 60 source at 18 hr. of culture 54 hr. before its end. The results of karyological analysis of irradiated cells were compared with those of non-irradiated lymphocytes from the same individuals. A significantly higher incidence of post-irradiation chromosome aberrations and a greater decrease in number of modal cells after irradiation was found in trisomic cells. The difference between the type of aberration, the losses of chromosomes, and the number of polyploid cells was not significant.
