Abstract
B. wynnei sp. nov. occurs at depths of 11-24 m on the southern insular shelf of Puerto Rico and is the 7th member of Botryocladia in the Caribbean. B. wynnei possesses a unique combination of characters which clearly separate it from other Botryocladia spp. The new species is diminutive, to 12 mm in height, with normally 1 or 2 vesicles/plant. Vesicles are several widths in length, are borne on short axes, and are incompletely corticated. B. wynnei differs from all similar species of the genus in possessing gland cells which are produced on elaborate stellate as well as normal medullary cells. B. spinulifera Taylor et Abbott is additionally reported for the 1st time from Puerto Rico. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
