Abstract
Radiation is a major tool in the management of cancer. 60Co, high voltage X-ray and other radioactive sources for malignant head and neck tumors often involve the region of the ear. Previous studies had laid emphasis on the effects of X-ray irradiation on the structure and function of the inner ear and the osseous tissue of the temporal bone. Changes induced in the middle ear mucosa have received little attention. The present work is concerned with delayed ultrastructural changes in the middle ear mucosa following X-ray irradiation for malignancies adjacent to but not involving the temporal bone. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
