Abstract
Describes the application of microdosimetric methods to the investigation of the radiation quality of the neutron field at the Gray Laboratory facility in Middlesex, England. It is concluded that differences in measured relative biological effectiveness (RBE) are not to be expected for irradiations using different collimator arrangements and any RBE differences between free air irradiations and irradiations behind water or tissue-like absorbing layers (at least up to 15 cm) will be due to the increase in the gamma fraction of the total dose as opposed to the small changes in quality of the neutron component. Keywords
