Abstract
Converting the energy of intense relativistic electron beams (IREB’S) into electrical energy can: (1) Enhance the efficiency of many electron devices, such as free electron lasers and microwave generators, and (2) generate trains of high‐frequency high‐power electrical pulses. An investigation of a converter was performed and efficiency of up to ∼60% was achieved. The converter was used with either a single pulse of IREB of ∼100 ns duration or with a modulated IREB at 280 MHz. An output electrical power of≳109 W was obtained. Keywords
