Religiosity in an Older Black Population

Abstract
A group of 122 urban black respondents, 51 to 90 years of age, were interviewed in depth about their religious practices and beliefs. The results were analyzed using a multidimensional scale based on Gock's conceptual framework. Religiosity did not appear to vary with age but church membership did. Women had higher scores than men, and religiosity was positively related to life satisfaction and to frequency of church attendance regardless of age and sex.
