Abstract
A critical review of the literature dealing with salicylates, from chemical, pharmacological, and clinical aspects. One of the important conclusions is that salicylates are not specific for acute rheumatic fever. Its nature makes the monograph unsuitable for abstracting, for, in many cases, definite conclusions are impossible among masses of conflicting evidence.
