Effect of temperature and soil phosphorus status on the determination of extractable phosphorus by Olsen's method—development of a correction factor

Abstract
The determination of extractable phosphorus by Olsen's method is dependent on the temperature of the extracting solution. In order to standardise the results obtained for soils to a given temperature (under conditions where soil testing laboratories are not air conditioned) a correction factor has been developed. Unlike a previously developed correction factor this takes account of the soil phosphorus status. The factor was tested on a group of soils and was found to be workable.
