Abstract
The status of our knowledge of the dissociation energy of molecular hydrogen (H2, HD, D2) from the earliest determinations in 1926–1927 is briefly reviewed. Present values obtained by high-resolution laser spectroscopy and by ab initio computations that include nonadiabatic, relativistic, and radiative corrections are in good agreement to 2 x 10–6.PACS No.: 33.15Fn
